Judith Starrett

Chosen by my late father, Ed Mercer, from among daylilies I passed over. It did not open well. But after further evaluation in my father's garden, he chose to register it for its brilliant colors, red edge, and strong performance.

Judith Starrett is named for a lawyer who works for the city of Charlotte. She helped my dad get the city to fix a runoff problem its engineers caused. The runoff ruined an area in Dad's landscape.

I still wish this opened a little better. But warm nights will make it open quite flat.
